Hello. I know many of you want free layouts. Well guess what? It’s your lucky day! This website is all about free layouts and how to add it to your homepage.

So don’t be afraid to browse around this website. You can check out the gallery, look at the tutorials, or sign up to be a helper for this page. ^-^
Lets Start With Some Rules
DON’T: Claim these layouts were made by you or anyone else.
DO: Use these layouts as a guide to make your own. If you’re starting out, I find studying other people’s work a good way to know what does what and how it works. You can even keep my coding and change the image to what you want. Just don’t claim you made the whole layout and of course: Don’t sell.
DON’T: Sell these layouts in any way, shape or form. I don’t care if you’ve changed the image or changed the coding. As long as you’re using my images (in any way, shape or form) or copying the coding (in any way, shape or form), you’re using something I made and spent time on. Just don’t. And even if you do and you don’t care what I think: People at IMVU do, six people have been caught trying to sell my layouts but before any of them could make a sale, someone jumped in and showed the link to this site. So not only is it bad to do, you’ll get caught and reported to IMVU mods.
DO: Edit the layout if you wish. Found a DIV and wanna turn it into an iFrame? If you have the skills, feel free to stick some buttons over it and change the coding. Just don’t claim you made the whole layout and/or sell it on.
DON’T: Pretend to be me. This hasn’t happened yet, but I used to run a website for another social network site where I helped people get around the filter that prevented images being shown on their pages (harmless images, like pictures of cats and pink hearts, that sort of stuff). It got pretty huge (I once got 48k of hits in one day and despite the fact that I haven’t updated since 2007, I still got 51 visitors yesterday x.x) and before I knew it, not only were people selling the images that I was giving away for free, they also started to pose as me. So, a pre-emptive note, don’t pretend to be me and don’t believe anyone who says they are me. My IMVU avatar name is IShotCookieMonster8D. So nobody can pose as me.
DO: Feel free to make your own IMVU layout site if you wish! The more choice people have out there, the better and I’ll be very happy to link to your site and even help out with setting it up (took me AGES to find the right WordPress plugin to show raw HTML!).
DON’T: Worry about giving me credit for these layouts. I have made a link button below people can stick on their layouts if they wish to link back here, but don’t worry if you wish to omit it. I have written my name on all the layouts, and linked my page on it. People can be cruel by trying to sell these layouts as their own.
Basically, what I’m trying to say is that I won’t feel bad if you don’t link back to me, but I’ll be very happy if you do. Not only does it spread the word of this site and help others, it’ll be nice to see how you personalised one of my layouts to make it your own. I get a warm feeling inside when I land up on a page with one of the layouts. So link or not, I do not mind if you don’t ^^
DO: Accept that people will sell their own layouts and there is nothing wrong with it. The layouts here are for everyone and as a result, the personalisation of a layout is very limited. Shops are there so if you want a personal layout or one where they’ll set up the whole layout, put your info in so you don’t have to and even make the webs.com account and pages for you, then shops are the way to go.
Side Note:
Just a quick note to say that the site is going under renovation! This is not the final result and things will improve better, but for now at least, this should be a nice upgrade! As we’re still updating, please look past any mess as it will be tidied up soon. So stay tuned over the next few days to see even more added stuff to enhance the site (:

This is a tool concept I came up with to help skin makers more easily test their skins.
NEW AND IMPROVED FOR CREATE MODE!
Furniture Skin Testers! Now you can use these in create mode. You can scale and rotate them just like any other piece of furniture. As before you’ll only want to test derive as these are just for the purpose of seeing how things look, you don’t want to submit these or else your just making some really weird furniture. I can no longer protect devs from accidental uploads on these as create mode will not allow me to lock them yet allow them to be used so be real careful not to submit.

Quick Instructions
-derive for the gender you need.
-apply your textures in place of mine.
-use the model to preview how your skin looks make any edits needed.
-once happy close the editor and derive from a IMVU skin to submit.
How it Works!
The tester will load with two dummy avatars. I tried to pose them so you can see all the seams more easily.
One modle is sporting the neck that is on the body texture. (between legs) the other is sporting the neck on head texture. S/he also has her eyes closed so you can see your eye makeup in the closed position.
NOTE: It is important that you make your skin so BOTH neck areas look correct as these necks are interchangeable depending on the outfit the avatar is wearing.
Aside the head of the dummy on the right there are exposed mouthparts for seeing those areas normally impossible to see to make it easy to preview dental work, tongue piercing, etc.
Once you get your skin textures ready to test load the Skin Tester then just swap out the head and body textures as you normally would. Hit ‘Apply Changes’ and the models will change letting you proof your work.
You can also swap the eye texture and remove the brows by adding an all black opacity there if needed.
When happy with the skin edits you will use the normal IMVU inc skin product to derive from to submit with.

This is a large working file, your final texture should be resized to 128×128 or 64×64

Guess what, IMVUs default head and its map’s lips are mapped totally different than all the other head’s lips! gaaaaaaa!!!
So here is a UV map I made up that shows how all the other heads besides the default head are mapped. Basically IMVU’s default head uses more area for the lips than all the other heads. (Default lips area shown in dark green)

Resize to 256×256 for your final texture.
Ideally you’ll want to make your skin to look OK on both head types, but realistically that is going to be real tough as the lips are mapped dramatically different. You may end up wanting to focus on one type of head or make two versions, one for IMVU default and one all other the other heads.

Same issue with the lips plus this ones necks are mapped differently to boot!
-Green Neck is for custom heads.

Here are quick links to IMVUinc’s texture flies can normally be found on the product page. These files are all PSDs so you will need a program that can open them (Photoshop, GIMP, PaintshopPro, etc.) The files will be zipped so you will need to extract them before using.
